Documentation of Sebastião Salgado at the press conference opening his exhibition Amazônia at the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City, on assignment for Reuters. February 6, 2025.

Amazônia, drawn from years of photographing the rainforest and its peoples, was his final major project. He appeared with his wife and lifelong collaborator, Lélia Wanick Salgado, who designed and curated the exhibition.

Salgado died only months later. These frames hold one of his last public appearances, among the monumental prints of the forest he had spent his life defending.

The closing black-and-white portrait is a later, personal tribute.
