Mirrora somos todas.
Mirrora is an ongoing project that began in spring 2021 during the Feminist Photographies workshop with Laura Larson at the International Center of Photography in New York.
Cities have been conceived by men and for men. Women have moved through them as guests in a space that was not designed with them in mind, often invisible, often unacknowledged. Mirrora enters that space as a figure without a face: a woman who moves through public life carrying mirrors instead of features, reflecting the city back at itself.
The anonymity is the point. Mirrora has no face because the face was never the subject. The mirror head does not hide an identity; it proposes that identity, for women in public space, has long been a complicated thing to claim.
After the first images appeared, something unplanned happened: women began writing to ask to become Mirrora. The project that started as a personal exploration turned collective. Each woman who has worn the mirrors has been asked why she wanted to, and the answers converge on one thing: behind Mirrora, they feel free from judgment and from the outside gaze.
